Why Convert 100-240V AC Outlets into 12V DC Power Adapter Sockets? Wouldn’t you like to use at home, in the office, or at a hotel most of your electronic gadgets (cell phones, tablets, MP3 players, DVD players, etc.) and 12V-powered auto appliances (vacuum cleaners, personal fridges/warmers, travel mugs, fans, air purifiers, etc.)?

Conversion Of 100-240V AC Outlets Into A 12V DC Socket Adapters
The conversion is simple. We only need two components for that purpose:
A Surge Protector, and a
100-240 AC To 12V DC (60W-120W Output) Power Converter Adapter Charger (12V DC Power Adapter Socket)
Even though the conversion is simple, its utilization – for most electronic gadgets (MP3 players, mini TV sets, radio sets, cameras, smart phones, etc) – as illustrated, could not have been possible without the contribution of a few key components, which are:

Micro/Mini USB Cables
AC/DC Cell Phone Charger Adapters, or any compatible Charger/Adapter
Note that most DC loads (compressors, tire inflators, car vacuums, emergency kits, ice coolers, etc.) come with their own adapters/plugs, built-in sometimes, and do not need the aforementioned key components to work with the Power Converter Adapter Charger (12V DC Power Adapter Socket)

To put all the pieces together (interconnection of all the components), proceed as follows:
Switch off, plug the Surge Protector into a wall outlet (AC)
Connect the Power Converter Adapter Charger (12V DC Power Adapter Socket) into the Surge Protector’s AC outlet
Insert the Dual USB 3 Socket 12-24V Power Adapter‘s DC Input Terminal into the Power Converter Adapter Charger‘s receptacle
Connect the Micro/Mini USB Cable, the Cell Phone Adapter, the DVD Player Charger, etc. into the Dual USB 3 Socket 12-24V Power Adapter‘s respective power ports (USB and Sockets), and finally
Turn on the Surge Protector. Watch all your electronic gadgets come alive!
Which Power Converter Adapter Charger to Buy?
After witnessing the awesome power and versatility of the Power Converter Adapter Charger, also known as a 12V DC Power Socket Adapter (video), the obvious question is: Which one to buy?
Before you buy any, determine the load. A load is anything that consumes power when plugged into a Power Converter’s live socket. As a rule, the load’s power consumption (rated load) must not exceed the Power Converter’s rated power output.
For instances, if the load is Wagan’s 55W 10.5 Liter Personal Fridge/Warmer (2296), the obvious compatible Power Converter is Wagan’s AC to DC 5Amp, 60W Power Adapter (EL9903), not Wagan’s Cell Phone/PDA Travel Adapter (2435 or 2025), 500mA.
When buying Power Converters, use warranty, brand reputation, rated output and authentic reviews as guides: The longer the warranty, the better. The more reputable the brand, the better. The higher the rated output, the better.
For example, a brand name 60W Power Adapter is better than a generic one. By the same token, 120W Power Converters are better than 60W-100W ones. However, that unfavorable comparison should not deter you from buying 60W-100W Power Converters (generic or brand names), if they fit your devices’ rated load needs and budget, and the reviews are positive.
Do not buy the generic 60W Power Adapter displayed in the illustrative video. We used it once, for the video. Subsequent attempts to use it again have failed miserably. Words to the wise: DO NOT BUY THE 60W POWER ADAPTER (AC/DC ADAPTER, Model: YH-CZ60W, Input 120V-240V-50/60Hz, Output 12V ≈ 5V) USED IN THE VIDEO (see pictures), unless you are hell bent on squandering your money.
Protection and Safety
Most power adapters come with built-in over-voltage and low-voltage, short circuit, and over-heat (cooling fan) protections. Overload protection is covered as well: When the load exceeds the power adapter’s rated capacity, the power adapter stops working (RoyPow C120).
For extended use, a power converter with the aforementioned features should be considered and is highly recommended.
We should note also that most Power Converters come with a 3-prong plug (grounded), which we prefer over the 2-prong ones, and a socket with a dust cap/safety cap/protective cover (iSaddle SZ-098-10A).

While we are not going to analyze the specifications of all the AC/DC Adapters in the above table, we can’t, however, afford to overlook a few glaring exceptions.
Of all the above AC/DC Adapters, one can’t help but noticing that the only incompatible one with 240V input and 50Hz frequency specifications is the Sunforce GM1200.
If you plan on traveling to a country with the prevailing 240V Voltage and 50Hz frequency, you should consider Power Converter Adapter Chargers (12V DC Power Adapter Sockets) with 110-240V and 50/60Hz specifications instead.
Unless you want to bring along another 240-110V step down transformer (an avoidable expense) to plug the Sunforce into, the purchase of the Sunforce GM1200 is ill-advised. The same considerations must be made for Schumacher PC-6, 70W; Wagan EL9903, 60W; RoadPro RPSL-7000, 70W; and Koolatron AC-15, 60W (not in the table) whose respective Inputs are 120VAC, 1.5A.; 110V AC; 110V AC; and 120VAC, 0.9A.
Another observation: of all the above Power Converter Adapter Chargers, RoyPow C120 is the only Adapter with a power rating of 120-150W, a cooling fan, and an 18-month warranty.
We have not tested the RoyPow C120, cannot, therefore vouch for its quality, durability and resiliency. But based on the warranty alone, we will confidently chose it anytime over a generic brand, or, for that matter, over most of the competing brand names.

You won’t regret it.

It is ill-advised to buy the 100-240W AC/12V DC Adapter (AC/DC ADAPTER, Model: YH-CZ60W, Input 120V-240V-50/60Hz, Output 12V ≈ 5V) used in the video, because it is highly unreliable, and the quality leaves to desire. We were able to use just once for the video. Subsequent attempts to use it again were unsuccessful.
Learn from our mistake, save yourself some money and aggravation: DO NOT BUY THE 60W POWER ADAPTER (AC/DC ADAPTER, Model: YH-CZ60W, Input 120V-240V-50/60Hz, Output 12V ≈ 5V) USED IN THE VIDEO (see pictures).
